Terms & Conditions
A simple agreement, kindly written.
These terms describe what you can expect from How It Felt and what we ask of you in return. Please read them — if anything is unclear, write to us and we'll explain.

1. About these terms
These terms form an agreement between you and the makers of How It Felt (“we”, “us”) regarding your use of the How It Felt mobile application and any related services (the “Service”). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Who can use the Service
You may use How It Felt if you are at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required to consent to the processing of personal data in your country, if higher). By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Your data and your device
The current version of the Service is account-free. Your entries, photos, and notes are stored locally on your device. We process the limited information we do receive — for example, anonymous analytics, crash reports, and subscription status — as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the security of the device on which the Service is installed.
4. Free tier, ads, and subscriptions
The Service is offered in two tiers:
- Free — full journaling, timer, insights, and a 7-day export window. The free tier shows ads served by Google AdMob.
- Supporter — a paid subscription that removes ads, unlocks the full affirmation library, and extends entry export beyond 7 days.
Subscriptions and any one-time purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The applicable price, billing cycle, and renewal terms are shown at the point of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your App Store or Google Play settings.
- Cancellation stops the next renewal but does not refund the current period unless required by law.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective policies.
- Free trials, where offered, convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless cancelled in advance.
5. How you may use the Service
You agree to use How It Felt for personal, non-commercial, lawful purposes. In particular, you agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, except where law expressly permits.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or your access to it.
- Use the Service to harass others, post unlawful content, or violate third-party rights.
- Interfere with the Service's operation, security, or availability.
- Use automated means to access the Service in a way that disrupts it for others.
6. Your content
You retain all rights to the entries, photos, and notes you create. Because they live on your device, no licence to upload, store, or display your content is needed for the core journaling features. We don't claim ownership of your content and we don't use it for advertising, training AI, or any kind of research.
7. Not medical advice
How It Felt is a self-reflection tool. It is not a medical device, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. The Service is not a substitute for advice from a qualified clinician, registered dietitian, or mental health professional. If you have concerns about your eating, mood, or health, please seek professional support.
8. Availability and changes
We try to keep the Service running smoothly, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may add, modify, or discontinue features over time, including features behind the Supporter subscription. For material changes, we'll do our best to give you advance notice in the app.
9. Intellectual property
The Service — including its name, logo, design, illustrations, copy, and software — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms do not transfer any ownership to you; they grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service in accordance with these terms.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties to function, including (but not limited to) Apple and Google for app distribution and payments, Google Firebase for analytics, crash reporting and remote configuration, Google AdMob for ads in the free tier, and RevenueCat for subscription management. Their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of those services. We are not responsible for third-party offerings outside our control.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, in which case the limitations apply only to the extent permitted.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenues arising out of your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or, if no payment was made, fifty euros (or the local equivalent).
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your data at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to the Service. On termination, the sections that by their nature should survive will continue to apply.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the Service is operated, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence still apply and are not overridden by this provision.
